What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a branch of complementary medicine. It is different from naturopathy and herbal medicine.
Substances (mainly those found in nature) are diluted and potentised in registered homeopathic pharmacies, increasing their potency while avoiding toxic side-effects. This creates gentle and effective homeopathic medicine that supports the immune system to bring about a normal healing response.
Homeopathy was developed in the late 1790’s by a German doctor, pharmacist and scientist, Samuel Hahnemann. It has been well-tested and used widely for hundreds of years.
Homeopathy was introduced to New Zealand in 1840 and according to the World Health Organisation, homeopathy is the second most commonly used medicine in the world (behind indigenous herbal medicine).
"Hundreds of millions of people in more than 80 countries use homeopathy, and it is part of the national health system in the UK, Germany, France, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Brazil, and Mexico." - American Association of Naturopathic Physicians
